The concept of Fire and Stone comes from one of the most basic equations in alchemy which results in the creation of metal. The fanfare explores the alchemy of taking the flash of inspiration, extracting it through the fire of sub-bass tones of the contrabass trombones into the high tessitura of the tenor trombones and melding them into the particular metallic clarion sound that only a trombone choir can make.
